Investments have made the CSPP Pilot Plant unique in Canada. Equipment has been upgraded, and new equipment added. The CSPP Pilot Plant is uniquely suited for recycling and deinking, pulping and papermaking.


1991 Modernization of the papermachine and installation of a ABB Accuray 1190 distributed control system.
1991 Beginning of works on the recycling and deinking section.
1991-1994 Consortium for waste paper recycling and deinking; installation of pilot plant equipment for recycling and deinking. The pilot plant is now equipped with a complete selection of deinking equipment.
1993 Inauguration of the SIRPO test bench for quality control of paper rolls.
1993 Beginning of works on the high yield pulping section.
1994 Addition of a two story extension to the building.
1994 Beginning of works on the alternative fiber section (wheat straw, corn stalk, switchgrass, kenaf, mineral fibers, ...) from pulping to production of print-ready papers.
1994-1998 Installation of pilot plant equipment for high yield pulping, including chip impregnation, refining, screening, cleaning and bleaching.


The CSPP has a versatile pilot plant which allows :

  • Duplication of pulping processes from either virgin or secondary fibers.
  • Production of paper and board from pulp produced in the pilot plant or from industrial pulp.
  • Development of new high tech products.
  • Development of new processes and equipment.

A highly trained and muldidisciplinary team of over thirty people with the expertise to carry out your projects.
